About Me
As an independent Marriage and Family Therapist, I specialize in relational healing and systemic approaches. I work with individuals, couples, and families to foster holistic well-being and navigate life's complexities with compassion and professional expertise.
I got my Master's degree from the University of Akron and have been practicing for three years now. I pull from several therapeutic approaches and I adjust depending on what each client needs. With couples I often work from John Gottman's research, especially the principles in his book The Seven Pinciples for Making Marriage work. I also use Cognitive Bevhavioral Therapy to help clients find balance between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In addtion to those I use Emotion Focused Therapy when the need to understand how emtoions shape relationship patterns arrises.
I know choosing a therapist is an important decision, and I value the time that you’re spending to see if we are a good fit! Thank you for your time and please reach out if you have any questions.

My Credentials
01
Why did you want to become a Therapist?
I became a therapist because it became apparent to me that my unique skills at reading other people, understanding their emotions, and being able to see relationship dynamics in real time were skills that I could use to help those in need.
02
What defines how you practice as a Therapist?
I work from multiple theoretical frameworks and therapeutic approaches. The emphasis changes depending on what each client needs. I have done a lot of work with couples through John Gottman's empirically validated research and approach developed from that research. Gottman has written several books, but the one I typically work from is the one written based on his research called 'The Seven Principles For Making Marriage Work'. I have worked from the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) theory which is also empirically validated and focuses on finding the appropriate balance between thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. I also have done work through the Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) lens which focuses on how emotions impact relationship dynamics and is mostly used when working with couples, but can be adapted to help individuals.

What can a new client expect when they book a session with you?
New clients can expect to fill out the initial paperwork which will include policies and procedures, a few assessments, and insurance information or good faith estimates if private pay. They can also expect to go through the diagnostic assessment during our first meeting, which is no ones favorite part of therapy, but it helps me better help each client and it meets the requirements insurance companies want to see. The diagnostic assessment normally does not take the entirety of the first session so the remaining time is utilized for the client to talk about what brings them into services and ask me any questions they might have.
04
What sets you apart from other therapists?
I am a certified clinical service provider (CCSP) for ADHD. I have taken extra courses and done my own research into ADHD which has allowed me to become a CCSP for ADHD. I also have done extensive work and additional research into emotion regulation and impulse control. I also have had success with helping clients to better handle anxiety and struggles with their relationship dynamics.

What is a Marriage and Family Therapist?
A Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is trained in all the same things that a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is trained in, but with a more systemic approach and a focus on working with couples and families. MFT's are trained to take a client's entire life into account when it comes to therapy: work, school, immediate family, extended family, friends, etc. MFT's are able to work with couples, families, and individuals.
